Creating with my Mom....

Whenever my Mom comes to visit, we try to do some type of craft project together.
Just for fun.
For this visit, one of things we made together were these gift tags.
I've had this Stampin' Up "Yummy" stamp set for at least a year or more.
But I have never done anything with it.
When I showed it to my Mom, we decided to make a bunch of tags together.
We both like to give baking gifts to our family & friends and we thought these tags would make a nice touch for packages of  homemade goodies.

And although we love to go shopping together, this project did not require any shopping.
Everything we needed, I already had in my scrapbooking and stamping stash.
Along with the stamp set, we used scraps of cardstock, scraps of Amy Bulter scrapbooking paper, my favourite flower punch and dollar store buttons.
And a paper trimmer.
We only used one stamp, "A little Something for you."
We meant to make more with the "Yummy for your tummy" stamp, however, now we have a future project to do.
We made 3 different colour combinations of tags.
We took the colour schemes from the Amy Butler scraps I had.
The Amy Butler colours are so delish!
Then we decided to make 24 tags in a Christmas colour scheme.
We used Christmas scraps in red and green.
And when we finished, we each had 24 tags.
We were quite pleased with ourselves for getting this project done.
And we didn't even spill wine on anything.

some 'Grammie' LOVE in the kitchen...

Whenever my mother comes to visit,
she & Hunter like to cook up adventures in the kitchen.
One of the ways my mother shows her love for people is to cook for them and with them.
Hunter has learned so much from her.
And one of things I love about my mother is that she is always game for whatever you want to try.
She's such  a FUN girl!
Hunter always wants to make crepe desserts with Grammie.
This time it was crepes with sauteed pears, candied walnuts with vanilla ice cream.
Topped off with maple syrup.
Delicious.
Hunter feels that crepes taste better when they are flipped.
But they must be flipped by her.
The sauteed pears in all their butter, cinnamon and syrupy glory.
Candied walnuts ready for garnish.
The yummy finished dessert.

a visit...

We are so lucky to have my parents visit us over the Thanksgiving holidays. They are the only company we receive on a regular basis from the Maritimes. I would be so lonely without their visits. We have so much fun while they are here. My mom is the ultimate in "Grammies". While she is here...she always has a 'project' of some kind planned for the kids...whether it be making cupcakes or pancakes, or taking the dogs for a walk, or walking to Chapters with the kids....browsing at books and getting a hot chocolate before the walk home.
My Dad keeps us busy as well. He is the 'Grandfather' of grandfathers. However, his pursuits are a little different....he takes on the homework questions, plays card, and goes for walks with the grandchildren. He loves to tease us. The kids also know that an endless supply of Grammie's homemade pancakes and bacon follow Grampie wherever he goes. Usually this breakfast gets served up at around 8 am....and little people know to be at the table when Grampie sits down.
Here he is getting yummy kisses from the new little puppies. Ha! Doesn't he look so thrilled?

In my opinion, their visits always go by way too fast. We are always wishing they could stay for 'just a few more days'. But there is always the next visit to look forward to....thankfully.

there's a grandma & grandpa in the house....

Well...let me see... since Grammie has been here, she & Hunter have been in the kitchen baking together. So far they have made cupcakes for Grampie(made with Splenda and no sugar added chocolate chips), crepes, chocolate sugar cookies and date squares. Grammie & Tyler made a cake for Grampie...also made with Splenda. Lots of Crazy 8's games happening too!
